“Got off on torture”

The interview revealed enough information for Officer Barnhart to be able to connect Rhoades to a couple other cases. At the end of the interview, the woman told Barnhart that Rhoades “got off on torture.” This was evidenced by the S&M sex paraphernalia and dozens of bondage magazines recovered from his truck and Houston apartment. The case against Rhoades continued to grow stronger.

Kidnapped in Houston

The woman in the truck’s case caught the attention of Detective R.E. Bomar who thought that her story sounded too similar to another case. The details the woman gave were eerily similar to the kidnapping incident in Houston. Three months back, an 18-year-old girl escaped from a building site where she was held, tortured, and sexually violated by a trucker.
