Candace Walsh and Douglas Zyskowski

The couple he picked up on that particular day was Candace Walsh and her husband Douglas Zyskowski. The couple had no idea that this was going to be their last day together. The driver killed Zyskowski and threw his body in Sutton County, between El Paso and San Antonio, Texas. Zyskowski’s body was found later, but it wasn’t until 1992 when it was finally identified. Meanwhile, the driver held Candace captive for over a week from the time she was picked up. She was brutally tortured and raped by the truck driver several times before she was murdered. He dumped her body in Millard County, Utah.

Regina Kay Walters and Ricky Lee Jones

Barely a month later, runaway teenagers Regina Kay Walters, 14, and her boyfriend Ricky Lee Jones from Pasadena, Texas, were picked up by the same trucker. Just like the first couple, both disappeared. Ricky Lee Jones was murdered and Regina was also held captive. Ricky Lee’s body was found on March 3, 1991, in Lamar County, Mississippi, but it was not identified until July 2008. Regina Kay also suffered the same fate as Candace Walsh. After the murders, the truck driver was back on the road, on the lookout for his next victims.
