Burdened by Loans

Rivers denied the existence of the policy, as court records indicated. However, it was shown that C&S was backed by loans. They owed $128,500 to a cigarette vendor and $15,000 to the former landlord for back rent. This wasn’t just the money they owed, they also had personal debts of their own, with Rivers as big as $28,000 in dues. More importantly, Rivers said that Joe and Olga were living in the lap of luxury and spending lavishly.

The Week Before

Police were able to discover a string of events that happened a week before the killings. Rivers had wanted to buy Connell out. Then, he asked his father to help him buy out his partner. He was only given a check for $25,000. Lastly, he withdrew $10,000 from his bank account, and when cops searched where the money went, they were at a loss.
