Mark Finally Dies

On January 2, 2017, the day Mark would be allowed to die, Kees would share that, “Mark was actually quite positive. They wanted to take me out. Mark said: ‘No, I want my dad to accompany me on my last journey.’ At 7:15 p.m. doctors checked he was absolutely sure and all the laws had been followed. A doctor came. They inserted a catheter into his heart. That was the end of my son.”

Setting Up A Funding Campaign

Mark’s brother, Bart, decided to start a ‘JustGiving’ Campaign to help their father out with the overwhelming expenses that they incurred from Mark’s injuries. Bart said, “With this crowdfunding action I would like to help my father, who lives o the Dutch-Belgian border. He gave up everything and spent many months traveling back and forth to Bristol to care for his youngest son in hospital. To save money during that time, my father spent most of his night sleeping in his car at the car park of the hospital.”
