An Emotional Father

Marks’ dad was highly emotional after the sentence was read out. He shared, “Mark was so brave when confronted with the hellish pain and disabilities inflicted upon him but eventually it became too much for him to bear. He died in dignity and will live on in the hearts of his family and friends. The court process was a difficult and emotional experience. I am very disappointed in the outcome of this trial. There are only losers in this case. I hope that Mark can now rest in peace.”

Too Good For This World

Mr. Van Dongen would also go on to say about his son, “I often told him: ‘Mark, think about yourself.’ He was actually too good for this world, too kind. When he was a child he used to play marbles. When he won, four, five marbles and his opponent was crying he would hand them back. That was Mark all over.” And while Mark is no longer alive to share his ‘goodness’ with the world, all his father can hope for is that the person responsible for taking his son away from him and his loved ones, Bernilah Wallace, will never walk out of a jail cell ever again.
