It Just Got Worse

Never truly knowing what a regular childhood should be like, Cyntoia quickly fell into a life of rebellion and bad choices. She began hanging out with an appalling crowd. She started doing drugs, being involved with men who did drugs, who in turn ended up trafficking her to those who would buy drugs from them, and apparently, buy sex as well.

Why She Kept Running Away

Since nothing truly felt like home, Cyntoia decided once and for all to remain on the streets. So at the age of 13, she had runaway for good. She said, “I wasn’t running from; I was running to. I could pick up (marijuana) and smoke it whenever, I could stay out late or sleep [when I wanted].”.
