Genetics
Our genes play a role in influencing whether or not we will develop right or left-handedness, but an actual, definitive gene has not been identified, making us wonder how much of our DNA is actually responsible for it.
Environment
In some cultures, right-handedness is preferred over left-handedness, forcing parents to train their children to use more of their right hands in order to develop their skill in functioning with the lesser dominant extremity. Since right-handedness can be taught and learned, and genetics also plays a part in determining dexterity, the question remains: how is right or left-handedness really developed?
