Eloise Worledge
Eight-year-old Eloise Wortledge went missing after someone took her from her bed in her family’s Beaumari, Melbourne home in January of 1976. At around midnight, one neighbor claimed that they saw an unidentified man walking near the fenceline of the Wortledge home as if observing the occupants inside. Another neighbor reported that about two hours later, they heard a child’s cry followed by the slam of a car door. But a few days before the girl’s disappearance, neighbors said that a young man had been canvassing the neighborhood, claiming he was doing a survey on child education.
