Four years later, Brett Peter Cowan, a known pedophile, was convicted of Daniel’s disappearance and murder. Later, DNA tests confirmed the discovery of the boy’s remains. Investigations also reveal that Daniel was murdered almost immediately after he was taken away by his captor. According to police, he had been choked to death as he struggled to get away from Cowan.
