Lawrence Russell Brewer
Lawrence Russell Brewer, along with two accomplices, delivered a horrific hate crime against African American James Byrd, Jr. Brewer and his friends had seen Byrd walking along a road in Texas and decided to abduct him. The three men then beat him up, peed all over him, and actually tied Byrd up by his ankles to the truck they were driving and dragged him down the road. Horrifically, Byrd only died when he was decapitated after his body hit a culvert along the way.
