The Singapore Sling is yet another thing that has a rich cultural background. With Raffles Hotel standing as a remembrance to the man who happened to ‘find’ Singapore, Sir Thomas Stamford Raffles, the gin-based drink was first made in this same hotel around 1915 by one of the Hainanese bartenders, and it has gone on to become the signature cocktail of all of Singapore.
