Finally Being Properly Diagnosed
It may seem like it took a lifetime to reach the pinnacle of her issues, but finally in 1995, more than 30 years from the time her issues began, she was put under the care of new mental health professionals. While in therapy at Tavistock and Portman Clinics under the care of Dr. Valerie Sinason and Dr. Rob Hale, she finally received the answer that was going to give her the answers she desired for so long. She was diagnosed with D.I.D. and once and for all, it was the correct conclusion. Doctors would be able to tell her the entire reason why her life had panned out the way it did, and there would be some sense of relief. It didn’t mean that it was going to be easy, but it did mean that she was finally going to learn the tools she so needed to live a semi-normal life. It was going to be a long journey, but it was also going to be a fulfilling one.
