In the simplest of terms, D.I.D. is short for Dissociative Identity Disorder, which used to be known as multiple personality disorder. According to a London based psychotherapist named Graeme Galton, “Dissociative identity disorder is a complex post-traumatic stress disorder. The purpose, psychologically, is to protect the mind when a traumatic event has taken place.”
