1) The CIA Paid Off A Witness
In 1990, a 15-year-old Kuwait girl named Nayirah al-Sabah testified on behalf of the U.S. government. She stated that she had personally witnessed Iraqi soldiers do terrible things to infants in her home country and through her testimony, helped convince the American public that military force against Iraq was justified.
Her testimony was so powerful that in 1991, the U.S. launched “Operation Desert Storm” against Iraq. One journalist suspected that the CIA paid Nayirah for her testimonial and eventually uncovered the truth. Unfortunately, this happened a little too late. It is now well-known, however, that the CIA paid a witness to propel the war in Iraq.
