3-Year-Old Child Mysteriously Disappears On Vacation – Are Her Parents To Blame?

A time to remember

When the McCann’s checked into their ground floor apartment on April 28, 2007, they were still a family of five. Due to their location, as well as their false sense of security of their holiday home, all the parents felt comfortable leaving their kids behind in their rooms while they dined in the resort’s nearby restaurant each night. They believed that, since the kids were sleeping and they were within the premises of the hotel, their kids would be resting peacefully close by, while they dined and enjoyed their adult time together.

Doomed from Day 1?

In the complex they were staying in, the couples and their families occupied 3 apartments, and the McCann’s remained on the ground floor in a two-bedroom space. The three kids slept in one room, which was closer to the apartment’s front door. It had one window measuring about waist high that had a walkway right outside of it. Just for safety, Gerry and Kate made sure to check the windows and doors at all times, assured that they were securely sealed to keep their children safe inside. They were able to lock the window completely, keeping it closed from the outside world. But the front door to the apartment could only be locked from the inside, causing them to leave it closed, but not locked as they headed out for dinner.
