Mike Wells called the insurance company on the day Jill died, asking about her life insurance policy. Deputy Leach’s investigation into the case uncovered the fact that there were two life insurance policies on Jill. One was from Allstate amounting to $200,000, and another from Lincoln Benefit amounting to $500,000 with a $750,000 additional benefit, bringing the total amount of the policy to $1.25 million. Jill applied for the Lincoln Benefit life insurance policy five weeks before her death.
