Teenagers get a lot of slack for their normally unsympathetic and detached attitudes. For the most part, teenagers are known to be completely self-indulgent and only think about what they believe is important in their own worlds. But, in the 10 different stories that we are about to share with you, these particular teens are the complete opposite of that entire stereotype. In fact, all these kids chose to put their own lives at risk in order to help others in need.

Story One: A Burning House

Marcos Ugarte, a 14-year old high school freshman from Troutdale, Oregan, had been at home with his dad when they heard furious screaming coming from outside. A house, only 4 doors down, was on fire and there was a 7-year old boy named Cody trapped inside. According to Marcos’s dad, “When I arrived at the door of our neighbor’s house, he [neighbor] was stumbling down the stairs because he had been completely engulfed in flames. He had soot coming out of nose and his mouth, he had just ingested so much of it.”
