The suicide attempt
Two days after the indictment, Amy attempted to take her own life inside her jail cell, but she survived. She was returned to jail after being treated at a hospital. James, Amy’s husband, complained that he wasn’t made aware of the incident. Then in November 2010, Amy Bishop pleaded not guilty by means of an insanity defense.
