The novelist
Amy tried writing novels as well. She even considered her writing a “ticket to academia.” One of those novels featured a female scientist who was working to eradicate a virus. According to a friend, Amy wrote three novels, but none were published. At that point, she found herself in the middle of a personal crisis as she struggled to keep the things she’s passionate about, the most important of which was her work at the university. Then one day, Amy thought about taking her life because the uncertainties of her tenure were becoming unbearable.
