Harvey Weinstein

Between October 2017 and May 2018, accusations of sexual abuse and rape from over 80 women were thrown against American film producer Harvey Weinstein, co-founder of entertainment companies Miramax and The Weinstein Company. The allegations gave birth to the #MeToo campaign on social media that brought sexual abuse committed by powerful men to light. On May 25, 2018, Weinstein was arrested in New York, charged for rape and other offenses, and relased on bail.

Jay-Z

American rapper, businessman, songwriter and record producer Shawn Corey Carter, better known as Jay-Z, has also found himself on the wrong side of the law. In 1999, the multi-awarded music artist and Songwriters Hall of Fame honoree was arrested for the stabbing of record executive, Lance “Un” Rivera, at a club in New York City. Rivera survived the stabbing but was treated for the injuries he sustained on his shoulder and abdomen caused by the 5-inch long blade used by Jay-Z. In 2000, after initially maintaining his innocence, the rapper pleaded guilty to the charges in exchange for a 3-year probation sentence.
