McGee says that he began to ponder why his life had turned out the way it did. He said, ‘he started wondering if God had sent him to prison for a reason.’ He iterates, “[In 2006], my brother got shot. I was like, ‘Maybe this is the reason God has me here.’ I was like, ‘Wow, the way everything was going, I probably would have done something really stupid’.”

McGee also concluded that he also partially had himself to blame for being in jail. He continues, “I had my own choices to make. I could have made different choices,” talking about his decision to ride with the people to the store when he was arrested. So after he was released from jail on February 3, 2009, he says that since then, if he can get somewhere on foot, or via bike, then that’s how he goes. He explains, “I don’t want to take a ride when I can walk or ride a bike because that’s what got me into the situation I was just in.”
