13. Depression
Diabetes can cause complications in the different organ systems of people diagnosed with it, and these problems can also include the psyche. Increased exposure to high levels of blood sugar have been observed to worsen symptoms of depression. Depression can lead to poor lifestyle choices with regard to eating habits and physical activity which lead to obesity, all of which are risk factors for diabetes.
