14. Obstructive Sleep Apnea
Obstructive sleep apnea is a serious condition wherein the muscles of the throat relax, blocking the airway during sleep, especially in people who are obese. It has been observed that prediabetics, or those who have high blood sugar, were oftentimes obese and prone to this condition. Also, OSA, just like gum disease, creates a vicious cycle in the control of blood sugar levels, worsening diabetes and making it harder to control.
