Too Far

The hospital was 25 miles away. It was a far drive and Dee had to endure the pain longer because this was the only facility with a neonatal intensive care unit (NICU). And at that point, the baby was still 10 weeks off its due date, which meant that he only had a 50-50 percent chance of survival. Mike and Dee were extremely worried at this point, but they were left with no choice then.

Finally Arriving

Dee was finally on the way to the hospital, but the tiny baby boy that they named Chris decided to get out while he was still in the ambulance. He came at the most unexpected time, but nonetheless, Mike and Dee had fallen in love with him immediately. They knew that he was special even that early on.
