Pretending to be someone else
When he took off, he rented a home where he found a death certificate. It belonged to Terry Symansky who passed away in 1991. From then on, he decided to take on the dead man’s identity to erase all traces of his past life. With his new identity, he found a new job, a new home, and a new wife with whom he had another child.
The jig is up
But Richard didn’t enjoy his stolen identity for long. He was uncovered when the real Terry Symansky’s nephew did some online sleuthing to find out why his dead uncle was listed as getting remarried and why he’s getting a pilot’s license. He then alerted the authorities, and the truth was uncovered. In July 2016, Richard was arrested and sent to the Pasco County in jail.
