A string of charges
While Richard was accountable for all his past actions, he couldn’t be charged for the theft he committed in Indiana 23 years ago. Indiana state maintains a statute of limitations of five years for theft. But while he may not be held accountable for it, he was nevertheless charged with stealing someone else’s identity.
Families devastated
Richard’s actions had destroyed two families. When he lived as Terry Symansky, he and his new wife had a son who now turned 19. The two families never met, but Linda felt sorry for them. She even expressed her sympathy for them in a press statement. Her lawyer demanded that Richard pays nearly $2-million worth of unpaid child support.
