No sign of him
She proceeded to call the hospitals to see if Richard had been to any of them. There was no sign of him leaving for good, because all of his belongings were still in the house, even his passport. He even left his coat, although it was cold out.
A devastating and revealing call
Within an hour, the family finally knew for certain what was going on, although for no apparent reason. Richard phoned and all he said was, “I can’t live this way anymore. I feel you would be better off without me,” and hung up without giving Linda a chance to ask questions. He called back and said he didn’t want to go to jail and that he’s never coming back home. On that day, Richard completely disappeared, leaving no trace of his whereabouts.
