Bone Marrow Extraction

The actual bone marrow extraction procedure that Lyle would undergo would take place at the Massachusetts General Hospital, and it would take a total of two hours. The doctors would put a needle through his hip and take out the bone marrow, which would be donated almost immediately to the leukemia patient. But what was even crazier was that he would have to put the needle through his hip over 200 times to get the total 2 liters of bone marrow the patient needed.
