His Season Was Over

Lyle admits that while his original decision was truly easy, he also knew that it was an emotional decision. He iterates, “When they first told me, I was like, ‘OK, cool. I’m definitely going to do it.’ After that I kind of went to tell my coach and then I realized slowly that my season was over.” He also shared, “And then afterwards I thought about everything that meant giving up.”

He Had Worked So Hard

Lyle had been working to perfect his sport for over 8 years. His training had been intense, and he was committed to being the best, but choosing to donate meant that it would all be over for him. He was about to join quite a number of competitions, but doing this meant he was no longer capable of joining most of them.
