SAMPLES COLLECTED
The moment the cops arrived at St. Stephen’s Court in Bath, Somerset, they collected as much evidence as they could find. They found Melanie’s key ring and discovered her identity. They also found her lying in her own pool of blood. They gathered samples and saved the swabs in clear plastic cases for documentation and filing. Little did they realize that this simple action would be the very thing that would lead them to the answer.
MORE EVIDENCE
Police also found that Melanie had been stabbed a total of 26 times. The stab wounds were found underneath her clothes. These 4-inch wounds were from a sharp-edged knife and eight of these wounds were found on her chest. The worst part was that the crime scene wasn’t concentrated in just one area. It seemed as if there was a trail of blood 30 meters that led to the cul-de-sac where she actually died.
