With everything loaded onto the national database, the police tried to connect using familial DNA. They compared notes and had come up with a total of 400 likely relatives. The police interviewed them all and collected a DNA swab from each one. Unfortunately, the search came out moot because they had yet to establish a solid connection and come out with a suspect of a likely age range. They once again thought amongst themselves to come up with a better plan.
THE ANSWER THEY NEEDED
Then one day, in November 2014, a woman named Clare had been brought to a precinct for domestic dispute. As part of the standard operating procedure, the detectives collected blood and DNA samples from the people involved. However, the police didn’t look further into the case because, after all, they were looking for a man. But in reality, Clare was the missing link they’ve been searching for.
