SOLIDIFYING THEIR PLANS
In 2003, the police set up a team that was dedicated to finding Melanie’s murder. The cold case group was in place and they had one single goal: to find the man who was guilty of it all. The cops were definitely one step closer to the end, but of course, they had to wait a little longer because the killers’ relatives were nowhere to be found in the database.
25 YEARS LATER
On the 25th year of Melanie’s death, a crime watch special was shown on television. Each of the cold case team got a list of names connected to the murder. They revisited each one by collecting the index cards that were made in 1984. They looked through each and entered everything onto a computer. At that time, they had a total of 14,339 cards and every member of the group was given a special assignment wherein they had to meticulously input everything they read about the case.
