The doctors told them the devastating news that Mike had stage-four astrocytoma, also known as glioblastoma. Basically, Mike had a brain tumor, and it was a life-threatening disease. Most patients only get 17 weeks to live after being diagnosed. According to Lea, after the doctor had explained to her what was happening, she said that he told her, “Sometimes you see people 5, 10 years out. [But] Not often. I wouldn’t count on it.”
