The first capsule hotel in the world, the Capsule Inn in Osaka, Japan opened its doors to local and foreign guests in 1979. Located in the Umeda District, it aims to provide the basic amenities of most conventional inns at a much lesser price. Capsule Inn designer Kisho Kurokawa gave the hotel a more interesting twist with its capsule-sized rooms.
