One of Lewis’s friends from school, Macie Swanhart, shared, “His mistake happened to cost his life, yes, but that doesn’t make him a bad person. And anybody that ever knew him knows he wasn’t a bad person. I just want everybody to know… Jake was a great person.”

Remembering Him Despite His Horrible Deed

Many of Lewis’s friends even went to the parking lot where he took his own life to mourn him the very next day. Some of them even said, “[He was] really the sweetest person you’ll ever meet.” One other friend, Alyse Wilson shares, “He did do what he did, but you don’t know what he’s going through. He had a reason. It was wrong, but you guys are downing an 18-year-old who is now dead.”
