Her Co-Workers Worried For Her Safety

After Shelby had rushed out to look after the injured man, Charlene Mann, Shelby’s manager, shares, “[Shelby] just said, ‘I’ve been to nursing school and bolted. I was thinking about the shooter, and I know that she’s pregnant, so I didn’t want her to be the next person shot.” Mann continues, “[The shooter] wasn’t at the forefront of my mind and I think if you ask anybody what they were thinking about [we] just wanted to make sure this person is safe.”

Shelby Admits She Didn’t Know Where The Shooter Was

Shelby admits that when she went outside to check on the officer, she didn’t know where the shooter was, or where the shooting was coming from. And although she knew that the scene was still unsafe, she just felt the compulsion to help the man who was surely bleeding in the parking lot. Shelby even shares, “I didn’t even know that he was law enforcement until I got over there and saw his holster and his uniform.”
