Paranoia At Its Best

According to police, they have a theory that Lewis may have allowed his paranoia get the best of him. Since he knew about his trouble with the law, it was possible that Lewis believed that the officer he shot was actually after him. And rather than wait for them to get him, he decided to do something about it instead.

What Else Police Had To Say

According to Clay County Chief, Wayne McKinney, “We’re not exactly sure what the motive was behind this.” But they do believe that there was a co-relations with the fact that, “The officer was wearing police clothing, a badge, and a shoulder holster.” McKinny went on to say, “it is something we live with each and every day knowing that going out in our community there are individuals who would target us just because of the badges we wear on our chest.”
