A Blood Drive

The Customs and Border Protection spokesperson, Keith Smith, said that a blood drive was to be held in the injured officer’s honor, to help replace all the used up blood in his surgery. Sgt. Dylan Bryan of the Florida Highway Patrol had even posted on twitter, “Proud to donate for our brother @CustomerBorder @CBPFlorida today. Thank you for the community response for our fellow hero. #BackTheBlue.”

A Hero In Their Eyes

Now Shelby, who has since gone on to receive a lot of acclaim for her heroic deeds, shares, “It was definitely important for me to make sure this agent, no matter what the outcome could’ve been, knew that he was not alone and that people who cared and wanted to help were there to assist and guide him through such a terrifying ordeal.” And thanks to Shelby, he is alive and slowly recovering from his fatal wounds.
