Many times, passengers who are traveling on flights that have rough landings believe that maybe their pilot is inexperienced. But in reality, the reason for such a rough landing, especially during times of rain and snow, is because the pilot is intentionally landing ‘rough’ to make a firmer attachment of the wheels to the runway. That way there’s less chances that the airplane will skid or experience ‘hydroplaning,’ which basically means a loss of traction of front wheels which then locks the back ones, causing the airplane to spin out.
