4. Noticeable Reddening of the Joints
The inflammatory response of the body to the high levels of uric acid crystals in the joints lead to an increase in blood flow and circulation towards the affected area. This increase in fluid perfusion serves as a way for the body’s defenses to reach the irritated areas quicker and more efficiently. The increase in blood flow to the area, coupled with the release of the chemicals bradykinin and histamine, then causes the tissues surrounding the joint to turn red.
