8. Formation of Skin Lumps and Nodules

Another sign of gout is the presence of hard nodules called tophi which are made up of uric acid deposits and are found in different locations in the body. These “growths” are commonly found on the elbows, the cartilage of the upper ear, and other joint surfaces. Presence of tophi suggest a long-standing and sustained high-level of uric acid in the system that could have been present for a few years.
