17. Airplane Tragedy N2
Air France Flight 4590 was a scheduled international flight from Paris to New York City in the afternoon of 25 July, 2000. The airplane caught fire when departing and all 100 passengers including 9 of its crew aboard died when the plane crashed into a hotel nearby Gonesse, a commune in the suburbs of Paris. Several other people got injured after the crash. This photo was taken when the flight caught fire.

In 1961, the entire U.S. figure skating crew boarded Boeing 707 to travel to Belgium for the World Figure Skating Championships in Prague. In this last picture, the team looked happy and proud for this trip while boarding the airplane. The 72 passengers, including one farmer who was on land, were killed when the aircraft crashed into a farm before it reached the airport in Brussels.
