The 9/11 attack cost many people’s lives. Moira Smith was the only NYPD woman officer killed in the attacks. Minutes after helping the injured man in the picture, Smith went to the south tower of the World Trade Center to assist more people but the building collapsed which caused her and several other people’s death.

Filipino politician Reynaldo Dagsa took a picture of his killer, his wife, daughter and mother a minute after his own death. This photograph was key evidence at Dagsa’s murder trial.
