Although Downtown Brooklyn is better known for its workings in the financial world, there are actually tons of fun things to do there, with loads of gorgeous parks, cafes and restaurants, and even the Fulton Mall to go to. You might also want to take in a concert at BRIC House or a play at the Theatre for a New Audience, depending on what you consider more entertaining, of course.
