Daniel’s Side

While being held behind bars, Daniel was also interviewed. They wanted to get his side of the story. He admitted to stabbing Cuesta more than 20 times in the head, neck, and back. He looks back on this with regret but says that he snapped when he elbowed her and fought back. He is sorry for what had happened and wishes to go back and change the decisions he had made. But then, cops were also surprised to hear another side of Gross when they spoke to his friends from church.

Jessica Kay Van Winkle had been Gross’ friend at Victory Life Center Church. She remembers Daniel as a happy guy who always had a smile for everyone. She was extremely devastated when she heard what happened. For her, he was always calm. Though the last time she saw him was a year before the murder. Therefore, she had never met Leonardo or Cuesta.
