Otto Frank was the only survivor then. He searched tirelessly for the person who betrayed them, who killed his family. When he was back home, secretary Miep Gies found Anne’s diary and kept it. She willingly gave it back to Otto, the now rightful owner who only had this little book to remember his family by. It was then that he made the smart decision to make her daily musings available to the rest of the world.

Right after the dreadful war, Otto urged investigation for the traitor. He had a strong suspicion that it was one of the people who worked for him. They were very careful while they lived in the annex. They kept the windows and curtains closed so that the neighbors wouldn’t see them and they made sure that they stayed quiet, especially at night. Because they practiced extreme care, who could have the audacity to give away their precious secret?
