Do Not Disrespect The Elderly

Filipinos are very respectful of their elders. This is exemplified by how they address their elders, using the words po and opo, referring to them as ate (older sister) or kuya (older brother), tita (aunt) or tito (uncle), or lola (grandmother) and lolo (grandfather), regardless of blood relation, and depending on how much older they are than you. Avoid calling the elderly by their first names, that is a sign of disrespect and is frowned upon.
