Don’t Get Offended Easily
Filipinos are good natured and fun-loving with a sense of humor. But this sense of humor may not always fit your sense of humor. For instance, if some locals try to mimic your accent when conversing with you then start laughing, they are not mocking you, they are laughing at themselves for sounding silly. And if you happen to be a male caucasian, don’t be offended if they call you “Joe”. This is a take from the G.I. Joe monicker during WWII and when the Americans had military bases here. To them, every white guy is an American.
