24. Do not Couchsurf in Cuba

Staying at a person’s house for free is illegal in Cuba. Tourists must book accommodations with the proper establishments lest they become harassed by authorities. Should you have been invited to stay by a friend or an acquaintance who is a local, he or she must be able to prove to authorities that both of you are in constant correspondence by showing them emails, pictures and other items that show that you really know each other.
