8. Avoid Staying in Casas with the Orange Markings

There are many places where tourists can stay in Cuba, the hotels of course are the best choice for accommodations but should you find yourself needing to stay somewhere a bit more affordable, casas or bed and breakfasts are available across the country. One thing to remember though is Do Not Stay in the orange casa particulares, casas identifiable by the orange signs posted outside.

These houses are reserved only for Cubans and staying in one could get you and the inn operator in a lot of trouble. Tourist casas are marked with a blue sign and those are the only places you should stay in.
